cPanel hosting control panel

What is Magento?

Magento Open Source is a powerful, free ecommerce platform used by some of the world's best-known online retailers. It is built for stores with large catalogues, complex product types and pricing, or several storefronts, and can be customised extensively by developers.

That power comes with heavier requirements than other shopping carts. Current versions of Magento need OpenSearch for catalogue search, plenty of memory and regular background jobs. Shared web hosting is not a good fit, so we recommend running Magento on a Managed cPanel VPS, where you get dedicated resources while still managing your store with cPanel and Softaculous.

Magento hosting requirements

Magento needs OpenSearch, Composer, cron jobs and several gigabytes of memory, which is more than shared hosting provides. Our Managed cPanel VPS plans give your store dedicated CPU, memory and storage, with our team managing the server and cPanel and Softaculous for day-to-day tasks. Contact us before you order and we can help size a VPS for your catalogue and traffic.

Magento Hosting FAQs

Can I run Magento on shared web hosting?

Current versions of Magento need OpenSearch and more memory than shared hosting provides. We recommend a Managed cPanel VPS, which still gives you cPanel and Softaculous.

Can you migrate my existing Magento store?

Yes. Contact us with details of your store and our team will help plan the move to a suitable VPS.

Is there a lighter alternative to Magento?

For smaller stores, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and OpenCart run well on our standard web hosting plans.

What is the difference between Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce?

Magento Open Source is the free edition. Adobe Commerce is Adobe's paid edition with extra B2B and marketing features and its own hosting. Our VPS plans are for Magento Open Source.

What size VPS do I need for Magento?

It depends on your catalogue size, traffic and extensions. Contact us with those details and we will recommend a starting point that can be upgraded as you grow.
